Delicious

I scrubbed my beloved piss-pot
to carry change to the Coinstar®
machine at WalMart today. My love
an old iced-tea pitcher—blue plastic,
big-handled, easy to find in the night.
Like me it has a melt-wound on its lip—
cigarette? I don’t know. Some kind of fire.
Didn’t clean up easily, I must say, had to work
hard to get the stains out after working hard all day
getting stains on me. Neither of us cleaned up good,
I’m afraid, we proud carriers of night soil to the bank.
Suffering is wonderful, I’ve come to believe, but grief,
grief by the gallon is delicious, and sometimes pays.
