Richard J. Cass book signing and reading
WHERE: Curtis Memorial Library, 23 Pleasant St, Brunswick, ME 04011
WHEN: Tuesday, September 19th @ 7:00PM
From Gary Lawless—Owner at Gulf of Maine Books, Brunswick Maine:
“Cape Elizabeth author Richard Cass will read in the mystery authors series at Curtis Memorial Library in Brunswick at 7 Pm on Tuesday, September 19. This will be a celebration of the just-published first two novels in his Elder Darrow Mystery series. Those two titles are: In Solo Time and Solo Act. They feature the character Elder Darrow, a heavy drinking jazz lover who has just purchased a bar in Boston, hoping to turn it into a jazz nightclub. Richard Cass’ stories have been featured in Redbook, Playboy and Writers’ Digest. He is active in the Maine Crime Writers group and is on the board of Mystery Writers of America’s New England Chapter.
On a more personal note, Dick was one of my best friends at Colby College in the early 1970s. We co-edited the Colby literary magazine, as well as poetry zines of our own. We also ran our own poetry series at Colby, bringing Gary Snyder, Theodore Enslin, James Koller, Joanne Kyger, David Meltzer, Michael McClure, Richard Grossinger and Lindy Hough to Colby for readings. I am really pleased to see these two books come out, and hope that you will join me in celebrating them on Sept. 19.”
